Antonia sings!

The world’s leading expert on hitting most of the notes in Defying Gravity

Group of people gathered on a rooftop at night, engaging in a discussion or presentation with a person speaking and gesturing, surrounded by chairs and microphones.

Long before she became a comedian, Antonia Lassar was the loudest singer in Hebrew school.

For more than a decade, she has led communal singing across North America and the UK, bringing together everyone from professional musicians to people who insist they "can't sing." She has served as a songleader for synagogues, camps, retreats, and progressive minyanim, and has taught workshops at Limmud UK and communities around the country. She currently leads singing at IKAR Los Angeles and regularly works with congregations seeking to create more vibrant musical cultures.

Antonia believes that music isn't just something communities do—it is a model for community itself. Singing together teaches us how to listen, how to make room for one another, and how to contribute our own voices without drowning out everyone else.

Her programs range from joyful participatory concerts and Shabbat experiences to workshops for clergy, educators, and songleaders. Popular topics include the history of communal singing, harmony as a spiritual practice, and helping congregations move from politely observing music to actually making it together.

Participants do not need musical experience, good voices, or even rhythm. They do need to tell Antonia that her fashion is cute.
