Antonia Lassar is Jewish

The world’s leading expert on whispering in shul

If you've spent any time on Jewish TikTok, there's a decent chance you've seen Antonia explaining why every Reform synagogue has the same interior designer, teaching complex theology through ADHD medication, or moderating emails from pedantic rabbis.

Antonia's Jewish comedy has been featured by Hey Alma, Arizona Jewish Post, Atlanta Jewish Times, St Louis Jewish Light, and approximately 3000 rabbi group chats. She recently received the prestigious Mandel fellowship for her Jewish standup comedy and was featured at Limmud UK. She has performed at synagogues, JCCs, holiday programs, and once even at the memorial for a gastroenterologist.

TESTIMONIALS

"Antonia’s performance is a journey not a show – she is a masterful artist who uses humor, music, and storytelling to create meaning and connection. In a room of over 100 people she made it feel intimate and personal."

-Temple Beth Avodah, Newton MA

“Not only is Antonia’s comedy hysterically funny, but her show is also poignant, meaningful, and relevant to young Jewish seekers today.”

- Rabbi Sammy Kanter, Cincinnati JCC

"She bullied two audience members into joining the board. Great event!!"

- JQT Vancouver

“Antonia Lassar was an absolute sensation, captivating an audience that spanned from 20-somethings to 80-somethings. Her performance was a delightful blend of laughter, reflection, and emotion, thanks to her sharp wit and keen insights into the quirks of modern Jewish life. Her boundless energy made the show truly entertaining. Working with her to plan the event was a pleasure, and she even shared her humorous perspective on some of the most amusing passages in the Talmud after Shabbat lunch. It’s no wonder she’s emerging as one of the brightest stars on the Jewish comedy circuit.”

-Rabbi Metz and Board President Green, Congregation Anshei Israel, Tucson AZ

Standup

Comedy

Antonia's comedy is proudly made for Jewish nerds, by a Jewish nerd! At heart, she's a Jewish anthropologist who just wants to understand why Torah covers look LIKE THAT? Her material goes far beyond bagels and overbearing mothers to tackle the most pressing Jewish issues of our time:

  • Why does every progressive rabbi describe everything as "meaningful"?

  • Should we just let the Chabad menorah cartels run the world?

  • Why can't we eat chicken parm???

Her audiences include Orthodox Jews, Reform Jews, Jews who insist they are "just culturally Jewish," and confused non-Jews who thought they were attending a lecture and accidentally found themselves singing "Hinei Ma Tov."

Music

Long before she became a comedian, Antonia was the loudest singer in her Hebrew School. She has spent more than a decade leading Jewish communal singing across North America and the UK, including at synagogues, retreats, camps, Limmud UK, IKAR LA, and progressive minyanim.

Her programs help communities rediscover the simple truth that music is a metaphor for community—including the people who can't harmonize. Participants don't need music experience, good voices, or even rhythm. This is Judaism, not American Idol.

Programs can include:

  • Participatory singing circles

  • Shabbat experiences

  • Workshops for songleaders

  • Community-building through music

  • Exploring the legacy of Debbie Friedman and contemporary Jewish music

  • Helping congregations build vibrant singing cultures

Education

Antonia's teaching combines Jewish text, comedy, history, and enough tangents to make the rabbis of the Talmud proud. Popular topics include:

  • Top 10 jokes of the talmud

  • Joke writing for rabbis

  • History of Jewish comedy

  • Messiest drama from Tanakh

And custom workshops! Do you have a weird niche interest? Excellent. So does Antonia. Together, you can create a program tailored to your community.
